Dr. Bernitsky’s interest in vision correction alternatives began during his residency where he was involved in the early PERK studies of RK. He was an investigator in the U.S. FDA trials of the Nidek excimer laser, one of the first LASIK lasers approved in the US, and has remained a leader in the field of vision correction. He has many firsts to his name. He was the first New Mexico physician to offer his patients the improved accuracy of a tracking laser (1999), the first to offer his patients the improved precision of a flying spot laser (2003) and the first to offer New Mexicans the leap in safety provided by the first blade-free LASIK – Intralase (2003). He has continued his commitment to excellence in vision correction by becoming the first New Mexico surgeon certified to offer the only reversible vision correction procedure – the Staar Visian ICL, and was chosen in 2006 as a Staar Visian Center of Excellence – the only one in New Mexico.
Dr. Bernitsky has chosen the motto OUR FOCUS IS YOU for a reason. He is committed to the philosophy that our patient is our first priority, a philosophy that is carried out in everything we do, from the way patients are greeted in the office, to the financial commitment we make to provide our patients the very best technology available.
